These are the first images of how the new Luddenden Foot Civic Institute could look.
The ambitious £1.25 million proposals to transform the early 20th-century building into a modern community and educational centre are at the heart of a plan to regenerate the village.
The proposals would see a glass extension added to one corner with a new wrap-around balcony and walkway overlooking neighbouring Holmes Park.
A third floor would be added to the building, while specialist catering, IT, play and educational facilities would all be installed as part of the proposals commissioned by Luddenden Foot Community Association.
“These are exciting times and we are determined to make this centre fit for the village.” Gill Smith-Moorhouse, chairwoman
Gill Smith-Moorhouse, chairwoman of the group, said: “It has declined some over recent years but this could be just the catalyst to really get the place buzzing again. The new plans look fantastic and those that have seen them are very pleased indeed.”
The building on Station Road is owned by Calderdale Council but it is in the process of being transferred to the association.
Funds for the development are expected to come from fund-raising and community grants.
Phil Hawdon, from architects Hawdon Russell who designed the plans, said: “We want to give Luddenden Foot a centre it can be proud of.”
